Import duties Suriname
Then import duties. Import duties are the taxes on products imported from abroad. These taxes are there to create a threshold by which Suriname tries to protect its own market from products from abroad. Because of this, products from Suriname should have an advantage in price over products that are imported. Because many products and goods come from outside Suriname, many products for sale in Sranang have to deal with these import taxes.
Below are most common import duty rates;
| Goods | Levy |
| Furniture | 35% |
| Computers | 18% |
| Sunglasses | 35% |
| Shoes | 32.5% |
| Phones | 18% |
| Electronic equipment | 35% |
| Fancy bijouterie | 56% |
| Perfume and eau de toilette | 35% |
| Clothing | 32.5% |
| Bags | 35% |
| Auto Parts | 32.5% |
These import duty rates are always calculated over the CIF value (CIF value = value of goods + transport costs + (possible) transport insurance 2.0% over the invoice value).
Example calculation
This calculation is a sample calculation in Euro`s including all costs;
Suppose you want to buy a computer via Bol.com, worth € 800.00.
First of all, 21% VAT will be deducted, so that is €168.00.
Bol.com has no shipping costs from 20€ so that is €0.00
To get your order VAT-free purchased, checked, all documentation, packed seaworthy as 1 package and shipped from the Shop Plus Ship warehouse to Paramaribo you pay €63.30
Import duty (computer 18%) is €125.15
The handling/customs cost for this package (8KG) is 100 SRD + 8% VAT is converted €14.17
Total price €834.62

Hello
I have collected sheets for a children's home in Suriname.
I want to ship them.
What will that cost me?
The sheets are not new. So they cost nothing themselves.
I look forward to hearing from you.
